I would like to inform you that I learned today from my brother-in-law that the famous Indian tabla player Zakir Hussain passed away on December 15, 2024. his name is not in the last “In Memoriam” of December 2024. He is famous for having collaborated since the 70s with Western rock musicians such as George Harrison and Van Morrison.

And major congrats on a stellar page! I am writing to take a shot in the dark and find out if you made your Bernard Purdie Collection from lossless files or from mp3s, and if it’s the former that somehow you have a FLAC file of the Donal Leace track. I’m trying to recreate what you did track for track losslessly, and the Country Road song by Donal Leace is the one out of the 40 I haven’t been able to locate thusfar.

I know it’s unlikely but if 1) you have this song and 2) I could somehow get it it I would be much and majorly obliged, and if you do or can, a trillion thanks in advance!

No worries! That song is mostly handclap driven anyway.

I’m gonna substitute “Synthetic Substitution” from 1979 by Melvin Bliss for that one (appropriately titled and stone cold funky as it is). I got every other song and 2CDs more of all different artists, with all Pretty grooves behind them. Once I brew it all up to be the same volume, may I post the lossless, expanded version of this to my page on Bernard Purdie’s 86th birthday on 6/11? This is my page and what I do:

I subbed in a few today that I blew, but I think I have it right now and it’s really him on it all. It doesn’t help that he fabricates stories about how he’s on every Beatles record or whatever roflmao. Tricky to figure it all out, but worth the imaginary boxset IMO.

I wanna recreate your incredible Sly Stone mix lossless, but that Ghana Soul Explosion track is ultra-nonexistent in FLAC! You sure dig out the deep diamonds, don’t you? Best mixes on the internet!

Firstly I can only agree wholeheartedly with Leon above. Just astonishing. Anyway I was just perusing some old posts and came across the Goodbye Yellobrick Road reimagined entry where there were a couple of tracks yet to be covered. ‘The Ballard of Danny Bailey’ has subsequently been covered by Harrison Clock, ‘This Song has no Title’ by “S” Box & Mamma’s Marmalade, and briging up the rear, ‘I’ve seen that Movie too’ has been covered by Kate Myers (singing on Kent Heckaman’s Songs from Tose Days), Zachery Black & Boz.
