Any Major Doo Wop X-Mas

December 6th, 2018 Leave a comment Go to comments

This Christmas we’re going doo wopping, with The Cameos, Marquees, Marshalls, Moonglows, Penguins, Ravens, Dominoes, Voices, Marcels, Uniques, Melodeers, Martells, Larks, Orioles, Falcons , Ebonaires, Ebb Tides, Blue Notes, Valentines, Sherwoods, Playboys and some of their pals.

I had written up a nice post about the stories of some of these acts — and it somehow disappeared. So, here is the mix without a history lesson.

Companion mixes to go with this would be Any Major ’50s Christmas and ’60s Christmas, Any Major R&B Christmas, and Christmas in Black & White Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 and Vol. 3.

Happy Advent season! And if your Dutch, Belgian or German, happy Saint Nicholas Day!

As always, the mix is timed to fit on a standard CD-R and includes home-shoo-da-ba-da-ho-ho-hoed covers (which, I must confess, I’m quite pleased with). PW in comments.

I’ve been enjoying doo-wop since hearing it on an Oldies station in the early 70s. What amazes me is just how many of these I haven’t heard before! This is some fine curating!

Hi. Really enjoyed this mix. Thanks for sharing. Tried to DL the companion mixes, per your advice, but ran into issues with those hosted on RapidGator. Specifically, Any Major ’60s Christmas, Any Major R&B Christmas, and Christmas in Black & White Vol. 3. from your suggestions. Any chance you could re-up them to Zippyshare (as with Any Major Doo Wop X-Mas)? Only I don’t seem to have any trouble with files hosted there. Many thanks in advance for your time & trouble. Hope you have a “Happy Holiday” and enjoy all that the season has to offer! :-)

Strange that you should have issues with the Rapidgator links. What problems are you encountering?

Thanks for this mix. It was just in time. If I hear Christmas in Bells and Chimes again I may snap. And your cover art is a new high, it looks completely retro.

Besides loving your taste in music I’ve always appreciated the care you put into finding label scans, which was why I was confused by the November “In Memoriam” download. What prompted the D-Mob “We Call It Acieed” art on all the cuts?
